REFERRAL & OPINION FOR SURGERY
For individuals diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria (GD) wishing to explore their options for gender-affirming surgical intervention, a letter from a gender specialist is often required.
For individuals who have had consultation with a surgeon and have made arrangements for the procedure(s), one or two letters of support from recognised gender specialists is usually required. The number/nature of the letter(s) depends on the surgical procedure sought. For example, genitoplasty usually requires two letters of support from two different specialists, while masculinising chest surgery usually requires only one. Breast augmentation or facial feminisation surgery (FFS) usually do not require specialist assessment.
